Knowledge Base Specific to Nursing
Discussion question: What do you think is the importance of having a unique knowledge base specific to nursing? How specifically does it contribute to holistic care?
In nursing, unique knowledge helps to enhance practice. Furthermore, unique knowledge allows nurses to augment nursing knowledge and establish the quality of acquired knowledge (McEwen & Wills, 2014). A unique knowledge base is also important in nursing as it allows nurses to observe, test and replicate the knowledge gained. In addition, a unique knowledge base acts as the basis for nursing. In particular, the knowledge base enables nurses to recognize the essential patterns for nursing knowledge, including empirics, esthetics, ethics and personal knowledge. Even though these patterns are essential, the unique knowledge base enhances their esthetic knowledge to deliver holistic care. For instance, esthetic knowledge takes into account biological development as well as the holistic needs of a person.
