Discussions: Per the Pender reading, research is needed to develop consistent measures and to test and refine the concepts and theories. Explain three goals of research and how they affect health promotion throughout the lifespan.
Assignments & Assessments: Previously you selected a community to be the focus of your Community Project. This week you will write a one to two page summary that will examine this community, potential issues, and strategies for engaging community and professional partners. Look at the community of the population is it rural, urban, what culture do you serve? What diseases, illness, or health prevalence do you see in your community? What resources are available to help reduce these issues?
Use state report cards, and/or other tools to assess community needs in the population you selected. Based on the needs you identify select a health promotion topic to be the focus of your community program project.
