Nurses are exposed to work-related violence from abrasive patients or coworkers. According to Brous (2018), occupational violence threatens nurses. For example, in 2014, about 154 per 10,000 people reported non-fatal workplace-related injuries. Furthermore, the healthcare sector experiences more violent injuries than other sectors. Occupational injuries are prevalent among nurses and nursing assistants in psychiatric, geriatric, and emergency settings (Brous, 2018).
