Applying Standardized Terminologies in Practice The advent of the computerization of health records identified the necessity of having Standardized Terminologies (STs). Beyond STs, more specific Standard Nursing Terminologies (SNTs) have evolved as a part of the process defining nursing as a profession. In 2013, a nursing conference was held to ensure that the knowledge and information that nurses generate as they care for patients and families are integrated into Big Data research for transforming health care (Garcia, et al., 2015). The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the importance of SNTs.
