As a leading hospital infection, surgical site infection (SSI) represents 14-15 percent of the nosocomial contagions among in-patients (Anggrahita, Wardhana & Sudjatmiko, 2017). Irrespective of the advancements in surgical procedures, disinfection techniques, and operating room aeration, SSI remains a deadly health problem attributed to high mortality rates, lengthy hospital stays, readmissions, exorbitant medical costs, and re-operation (Anggrahita Wardhana & Sudjatmiko, 2017). In this regard, SSI deterrence is centered on decreasing microbes introduced in the operative site by enhancing patients’ safety against contracting the infection (Privitera et al., 2017).
