Healthcare workplaces are stressful in nature, which makes providers fail to communicate in a considerate and respectful manner. Nonetheless, safe and quality patient care relies on how providers manage their behavior or stress to communicate effectively. Interaction among providers can hamper the ability to carry out their duties, allegiance to the organization, and provision of quality and safe care. Clark (2015) argues that the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics requires nurses to promote safe but also civil and ethical workplaces. However, incivility is prevalent in healthcare settings, leading to unsafe working conditions, adverse clinical outcomes, and high medical costs (Clark, Olender, Cardoni, and Kenski (2011). Similarly, Abdollahzadeh et al. (2017) argue that workplace incivility is typically disrespectful and rude, indicating a lack of respect for others. The assignment’s purpose is to discuss the Work Environment Assessment results of my workplace. It will also explain the theory related to workplace assessment while recommending strategies for addressing an organization’s shortcomings.
